In early May I visited the Yamabuki spring and began drawing with the image of its water. Partway through, though, it felt as if I were drawing what welled up from inside me.

Everything we meet each day carries life. I realised that what I long for is to feel that life. A flower in full bloom and a withered one… who decided which is beautiful and which is not? Both are the same life… life continuing on and on… the age and the youth within me…

In the instant of placing a dot I felt eternity, and this moment felt like a whole lifetime… The spring within me never ceases to well up…
